World human powered speed challenge
Every year teams from all over the world gather in Battle Mountain – Nevada, United States – for the World Human Powered Speed Challenge. This is the Formula 1 race of the cycling world. Each team is able to try to break the world speed record several times during this event. Battle Mountain is the optimal location for this: it is located on a plateau in the desert, at a altitude of 1400m. Due to the height, there is less air resistance, which helps us achieve top speeds. The sprint speed is measured over the last 200 meters of an 8 kilometers long, straight and flat road.
This year, the race will be in September 2020 where we will be attacking the men’s world record.
