VeloX 9
With the VeloX 9 the team managed to push through the limits and break the old female worldrecord. On the 9th of September, athlete Rosa Bas set a new world record with a top speed of 122.12 km/h/75.88 mph. Significant design changes were made to the VeloX 9 in order to achieve this new top speed. New tires were designed with a custom size and tread for a lower rolling resistance. The frame had to be adapted to a new shape, which was achieved using pre-preg carbon fibre materials. Also, communications were significantly improved using new equipment and adding a glass-fibre compartment to the shell releasing communication through the rear of the VeloX 9. Aditionally, The athletes were trained optimally and fit perfectly in the VeloX 9 using body scans and new 3D printing techniques for the mask. Improving the shifting cassette and a new aerodynamic shape led to fewer friction losses and thus, an even faster VeloX 9. This all resulted in dream coming true: the 9th Human Power Team broke the women’s world speed record!
